EUSA – site inspection at the University of Debrecen

The European University Sports Association (EUSA) delegation visited the planned venues of next year's 3x3 European University Basketball Championship (EUC) and the 2024 European University Games (EUG) at the University of Debrecen. The members of the delegation mainly visited the sports venues and the units catering for the events. 

 

As is known, in 2024 the University of Debrecen, the city of Debrecen, Miskolc and the University of Miskolc will jointly host the European University Games. Most comparable to the Olympics, EUSA's multisport event is the most important collegiate sports event in the world. Before that, in 2023, UD will host the 3x3 university continental tournament as a kind of test tournament. 

 

 

 

As part of the preparations for the two events, a delegation from the European University Sports Association (EUSA) arrived in the city for a site visit. At the locations and at the consultations following the visit the local organizers presented the specifics of Debrecen that affect the events, and discussed the most timely issues in the current phase of the organization and the upcoming joint tasks.

On behalf of EUSA, sports manager Miha Zvan, assistant sports manager Mariano Carcatella, and Jeanine Tjin A Sioe, the technical delegate of next year's 3x3 European University Basketball Championship, visited the University of Debrecen. Two specialists of the Hungarian University-College Sports Association, György Kovács, Deputy Secretary General and László Végh, project manager, were also among the visitors. The organizers of the 2024 EUG in Miskolc were represented by Zoltán Rakaczki, president of the Miskolc University Athletics and Football Club. 

 

 

 

The members of the delegation were received by Chancellor Zoltán Bács of the University of Debrecen, László Balogh, Director of the Sports Science Coordination Institute, as well as András Becsky, Managing Director, and Tamás Dékán, Economic Director, of the Debrecen Sports Center.
