After a storm-washed evening

The second day of the 3x3 European University Basketball Championship, held in front of the main building of the University of Debrecen on 17 July, was once again a huge success, but it was also a "disappointment" for the organisers and the audience.

On the second day of the tournament, the defending champions took to the court once again and once again won with confidence. In addition, the teams in most groups have already been decided, although the full list is not yet finalised. As for the hosts, the local crowd was particularly pleased as the University of Debrecen boys' team progressed from their group with one win and the girls are two wins clear in their group.

However, the weather was not kind to Monday's matchday. Clouds gathered in the late afternoon and a thunderstorm struck around 7pm. Under the rules, matches were immediately suspended at both grounds. The organizing committee and volunteers worked in perfect coordination to evacuate the stands, cover the pitches and secure the technical equipment in a matter of minutes. The local organisers had indeed prepared for everything, so everyone was quickly safe.

Due to the heavy rain, the game could not restart on Monday evening and the teams will resume from there on Tuesday.

At the end of the day, after another victory, defending women's champion team member Veronika Kosmach of Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian University said: ’This is the third time I have participated in such a tournament and it feels fantastic. Thank you to the organizers and staff for creating such a magical atmosphere, and I would like to add that our goal is to win the title after Lodz.’
